Matt Clearwaters’ drill errands turned ugly when he walked out of a store on Willamette High road and found a tow truck driver hooking his car.

When the man in the unmarked tow truck saw Clearwaters coming, he sped out of the parking lot before the 2002 Honda Accordance dangling behind the truck was secure.

“It was a fiasco — he well-founded gunned it,” Clearwaters said. “The car was a moment ago making these awful crunching noises — the (exigency) brake was on and it was just screeching down the road, with the back tires dragging.”

Sprinting after the sundries, Clearwaters pleaded with the driver to stop, but it was too late.
