Indonesia reports first swine flu-related death: govt
JAKARTA — Indonesia on Saturday reported its first ruin linked to swine flu after a six-year-old girl who had severe pneumonia died in a Jakarta sickbay.
"During her stay at the hospital, the patient's condition kept getting worse and she died on July 22, 2009," Haleness Ministry director general for disease control Tjandra Yoga Aditama said on the the pulpit's website.
"The child already had health problems since several years ago and delayed progress... this patient had severe pneumonia and the result from Polymerase Chain Counteraction has shown that she was positively (infected) by influenza A(H1N1)," he said.
As of July 24, Indonesia had recorded 343 swine flu cases.
The first cases of the virus emerged in Indonesia in June after a British tripper and an Indonesian pilot tested positive.
