The Bellow committed to playing their young players and with the Knicks, Wilcox never got much of a incidental to contribute.
"This is a great opportunity for me," he said. "It's a great moment for me to play and it's a great opportunity to be part of a winning program. I de facto think things are going to work out for the best."
Having a betide to play with a perennial playoff team was paramount in Wilcox's finding to sign with the Pistons over other suitors, including the Wizards, Suns and Mavericks. Wilcox, playing with the Clippers, Sonics, Rumbling and Knicks, never has played in a playoff game.
"I am just truly excited," Wilcox said. "This is my first opportunity to be in a program that's game to win."
Wilcox, who will be 27 in September and is 6-foot-10, 235 pounds, has played both the power patronize and center spots. He had his most productive years playing center in Seattle. He will have to struggle Kwame Brown for the starting center job next season.
