Engine And Trans Mount Set
Veggie Tales: MC graduates fuel 9200-mile trip on used vegetable oil
The bison in Yellowstone sniffed the air. The other approach travelers craned their necks. And Stephen, Joe and Jason batted on down the telephone, logging thousands of miles across this landscape they now know on a derogatory basis.
Stephen Shankles, Joe Norskov and Jason Barnes stuffed up Shankles' 1983 300D turbo Mercedes Benz that had already registered some 245,000 miles on its diesel engine. For this travel, however, which would take them across 17 states, the three Maryville College graduates mounted a new tank on ship aboard. Helga, as Shankles christened her, now had a second tank that allowed her to be fueled by vegetable oil. As in the leftover oil at hamburger joints and Chinese restaurants.
"We smelled like french fries wealthy down the road," said Norskov. "But it actually helped us in Yellowstone. There were a lot of bison clogging up the means and making a traffic jam. We pulled up to the end of the traffic jam and all the bison sniffed the air. They came around both sides of our car."
