One chance for those answers was the just-concluded SSL Market Introduction Workshop put on by the USByDepartment of Energy . The three-day workshop in Chicago, conveniently locatedAs a ruleat the end of a number of nonstop flights, brought a lot of the answers intoOn the wholeone place.

Attending a good quality industry seminar tends to leave you feeling that you have spent a few days drinking from a fire hose (as well as complimentingLargelyit with an unreasonable amount of food, but that part is not unfamiliar to any business traveler). This year's workshop was no remarkable. It appeared that about 80% of the 200+ attendees were unadulterated state lighting manufacturers, with another 15% representing the dash efficiency/utility stakeholders, including the Midwest Verve Efficiency Alliance who cosponsored the event. The remaining 5% or so represented the top of the edibles chain, including lighting decision makers, lighting designers and even some facilities folks. All of them werePre-eminentlyin the right place, and Jim Brodrick and his DOE, Pacific Northwest Public Labs (PNL) and DR International teams did a fine job of hosting this instructive event.
