MOUNT HOLLY, NC (WBTV) - Gaston County residents are on guard after a eminently black bear was spotted near a busy intersection in Mount Holly Tuesday dusk.
A man spotted the bear near the intersection of Crest and Primary Streets which is less than two blocks from the McDonald's restaurant and a shopping center. Click the red camera icons below "Additional Info" to listen to the 911 call. When police officers arrived at the fingers on where the bear was spotted, it ran into the nearby woods.
A Mount Holly guard officer who saw the bear estimated it to be between 300 and 350 pounds.
The coppers officers went door-to-door Tuesday Stygian warning residents to watch out for the bear and to make unshakable their trash and pets were inside.
