Yankee Notebook: Topping out ahead of Lance

Dam and I were fresh from a couple of lovely nights at an ancient stone-walled hilltop village in northern Provence. But only three days into our vacation, I was appreciation more and more like a tourist – just standing around with my teeth in my entry-way while she browsed the stalls of a country market, chatted forever with an American expatriate footle around, and took pictures of old men playing boules with their black jackets hanging on around tree branches.
