PSB urged to reject VY relicensing Conditions should be met
BRATTLEBORO -- The Vermont Out of the closet Service Board should not issue a certificate of public respected to Entergy for extended operation of Vermont Yankee atomic power plant in Vernon unless a number of conditions are met till to 2012.
That was the conclusion of Vermont’s Department of Public Services in its official recommendation on the future of the power plant.
Entergy, which owns and operates Yankee, has applied to the Atomic Regulatory Commission to extend the plant’s operating entitle from 2012 to 2032.
In addition to the NRC’s approval, Entergy must also be paid a certificate of public good from the Public Service Quarter and the Vermont State Legislature to continue operation history 2012, its original license expiration date.
