Heater fault makes for chilly bus rides
First the trains, and now the buses - commuters go on with to be given the cold shoulder by their public transport system.
Heaters on Wellington's new $450,000 trolley buses have had to be switched off because of cover concerns, making for chilly commutes.
Some of the new buses are still without animate, and the Wellington Tramways Union has raised the problem with the borough's bus company after complaints from drivers fed up with having to work in the chilled.
Bruce Kenyon, general manager of Go Wellington, confirmed that heaters on some of the new trolley buses were not installed well.
"As a precaution, all new trolley bus heaters were turned off while fitting specifications were checked," he said.
"The heaters on assumed buses are in the process of being replaced. This will be achieved as soon as doable."
