Don Lucas at Encore Trucking in Canada relates his myth of how bad weather, restricted space and tough working conditions were defeated to install some escalators in a new building. A pair of 2.9 ton Unic mini cranes in an impassable area did the same job that Encore had a 50 ton do before.

The city of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada has been the nucleus of a tremendous oil boom. With oil at US$140 a barrel in October 2008, stuffy oil and gas exploration in Western Canada and the drive to develop the oil sands, all put Edmonton in an unprecedented edifice explosion.

"We were past busy, beyond frenzy, we moral called it stupid busy," Don Lucas says. "The megalopolis was a mad beehive, ripping and bulging at her own seams. We couldn't modify the influx of people, rental properties were scarce and high-priced, housing prices outrageous, roads and highways were jammed and chancy. Tradesmen were swamped, workers were difficult to find and many were arrogantly hard," Don Lucas explains.
