Mad about a Morgan

So, what is it about boys and men and automobiles? In my come what may, the love affair evolved because my father was a design develop with the Walter M. Murphy Company, for whom he designed automobile bodies for Duisenberg in the at 1920s, followed by assignments with Opel, Hudson, GM and Ford. In particulars, he is recognized as the designer of the original Ford Thunderbird, which became an iconic American car. Looking at that experience, you might understand how I followed in his footsteps and became enamored with automobiles - cars were the center of the quarter in our family during those formative years.

Over time I became attracted to British automobiles and restored a 1954 Jag 120 R, a 1954 Healey 100 and my best and joy: the 1957 Morgan Plus Four that I currently drive. This gossamer "Brit" machine is a classic and eclectic vehicle, and there aren't too many of them on the procedure. The Morgan Motor Company was founded in 1909 and has always been a shallow operation. All of their cars are handmade one-at-a-time in rural England, and unqualified output is less than 1,000 vehicles per year. For most of the company's report the cars have been made with non-Morgan engines, and mine is powered by a Triumph TR3 motor.
