Comedy to benefit children

This is one of several columns featuring folks who are ''Making a Change'' in the lives of others. That has special significance during these challenging economic times.

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Intellectual Order of Police, Akron Lodge No. 7, is gearing up for Comedy for a Precipitate and hopes you are, too.

The noble goal of the 8 p.m. Sept. 26 sake at the lodge, 2610 Ley Drive, Akron, is to put smiles on some creditable young faces during the Christmas season.

All proceeds will go to grasp two Polar Express train cars for critically and chronically ill children to sustain the magic of a ride to the North Pole. (Dates will be announced later in this column).

Headlining the advantage will be comedian Mike Conley. Also performing will be Bill Boronkay, Katrina Brown and Sam Bendekegey. WNIR portable radio's Stan Piatt will serve as master of ceremonies.
