Neat Aussie vBlog but don't go by his explanation of scope probe ...

Former EDN leader-writer in chief Steve Leibson told me about this neat video blog some Aussie bloke has put up for the universe's enjoyment. The video blog summary page has an entrance called EEVblog #14. In that blog the presenter shows a Brobdingnagian pulse on his scope occurring when he stands up from his lab chair. He had the 5-inch teach probe ground wire clipped to the probe tip. We all recollect this is not really shorted at high frequencies, everybody knows that rationale wire has enough impedance to give you all kinds of bogus readings.

What bothered me was his disclosure that the pulse, in shape of a sinx/x waveform, was due to the inductance of the inquiry cable. See, the frequency of the pulse was in the hundreds of MHz, and sorry, the center wire of a around cable does not really exhibit inductance at these frequencies. It is a transmitting line and really does look like 50 ohms. So I sent the fasten together to a bunch of electronics luminaries and several were nice enough to respond.
