New cash for clunkers program begins
The only inanimate object better than the smell of a new car is the smell of cold hard notes. A government incentive started today called Mazuma change for Clunkers.
The goal is to get more fuel efficient cars on the passage by kicking in up to $4,500 for a new car if you trade in your gas guzzler.
Cheryl Kuhn's ‘88 Toyota doesn't run like it habituated to to.
"All in all, it's getting to the point where it's starting to rate us," she says.
At times it struggles to start. She's even had problems with the taillights.
"It's getting closely guarded to being on its last legs," she says.
There's no way around it: it's a clunker and she indubitably won't get much if she tries to sell it.
"Probably about $200 if someone wanted a car Non-Standard real bad. It's not worth much," she says with a smile.
