SIERRA MADRE MOUNTAINS, Wyo.--When I was planning stages for Way Trip 2009 , my wife told me, point unrelieved, that if I fiddled around with either my iPhone or my iPod while I drove, at some point during the thousands of miles I'd be behind the annulus, I'd have an accident.

Fortunately, I was able to counter that argument by explaining that the Audi Q7 TDI I'd be method-testing was supposed to feature really nice integration between those devices and the car, and I promised a hands-honest experience, no matter how much I drove.

After more than 5,000 miles in the Q7, I'm ready to grant Audi high scores for how they managed to espy both devices seem like built-in accessories.

In point of truthfully, the car doesn't have specific iPhone integration. Rather, it's supposed to be for any Bluetooth-enabled transportable phone. But since the only one of those I have is an iPhone, that's what I've been using for 32 days, seven states, and not quite enough miles to cross the United States and return.
